Meet the Team

John Kabateck, President


John Kabateck has enjoyed nearly twenty-five years of leadership with strategic coalition development and implementation in California’s public policy and political arenas, with an emphasis on the full spectrum of business and job creator sectors.

As California Executive Director of the National Federation of Independent Business, California’s and the nation’s leading organization serving only small businesses, Kabateck was responsible for the recruitment, outreach and involvement of upwards of 23,000 small and independent business owners from sectors including retail, restaurants, manufacturing and agriculture. He led the organization’s successful efforts to protect small businesses from higher taxes, including split roll/Prop 13 reform, frivolous “shakedown” lawsuits, and over-regulation, and was involved in aggressive ballot and legislative efforts during his eight years at NFIB. He is also credited for leading national efforts for NFIB in member gain, media positioning, and a successful effort working with the more than twenty five field sales representatives in the state.

Kabateck also served as Senior Legislative Director and Vice President of the California Restaurant Association, during which time he helped lead successful efforts to mobilize small business restaurateurs and their employees to engage in statewide campaigns addressing such small business issues as meal and rest periods, minimum wage and paid sick leave.

Kabateck previously served as Chief of Staff in the California Legislature and as Director of Coalitions for Governor Pete Wilson’s successful re-election campaign and as Wilson’s Chief Deputy Appointments Secretary, where he was responsible for full-time and board/commission appointments spanning more than eight state agencies, including the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency and Trade and Commerce Agency. He was selected by Governor Schwarzenegger to serve as Director of External Affairs, in which he managed staff and operations of five statewide offices and the Governor’s statewide coalitions network, including business, local government and ethnic community outreach efforts.

Nate Haderlie, Account Executive


Nate Haderlie comes to Kabateck Strategies with more than six years of public affairs experience. Haderlie most recently worked as Senior Communication Specialist with Moroch Partners, a Dallas, Texas based company with a satellite office in Sacramento. Moroch Partners provides marketing and advertising to local McDonald’s Restaurant owner-operators in the Fresno, Sacramento and Reno, Nevada areas. In that role, Haderlie managed the public relations efforts on behalf of the restaurants in the greater Sacramento and Reno areas and managed the more than 300 social media accounts for the restaurants. Before his time at Moroch Partners, he worked at Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California as their Community Relations Coordinator, helping to educate the community about the charity and raise funds for their programs that assist the families of children receiving medical attention for a life-threatening illness or injury at any of the local Sacramento area hospitals.

Haderlie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, with a Certificate in Public Relations from Boise State University. During his time at Boise State University Haderlie re-established a student-run public relations firm, Blue House Public Relations, which provided an opportunity for students to gain real experience working with clients before graduating. As the firm’s Executive Director, he led the business in finding clients to hire the firm and turned it around from a failing organization to a thriving opportunity for student’s and small businesses in Boise to be mutually successful.

Ken Knecht, Strategic Partner – Digital & Social

Ken Knecht is an Internet marketing veteran with over twenty years of experience in web development and digital marketing. Knecht began his career before graduating college when he launched a web development firm, Tridesign.

After graduating from California State University, Chico Knecht joined a prominent Northern California accountancy corporation heading up their technology division an a senior e-commerce consultant. He went on to become Creative Director and VP of marketing for Travidia, a technology startup that assisted top newspapers and retailers with their digital shopping channels. Travidia was sold to the McClatchy Newspaper Group in 2007 and Knecht moved on as Interactive Media Director at a prominent Sacramento advertising agency, MeringCarson. There he worked with California Tourism, Pebble Beach, NFL Network and many other major brands.

In 2009 Knecht launched InterKnecht, a digital marketing and web development firm. InterKnecht became the digital arm for several traditional ad agencies and eventually merged with another prominent Sacramento firm, Sacramento Marketing Labs where He served as partner and CTO. Today Ken continues to consult for several area firms including Kabateck Strategies.

Vi Blanchard, Administrative Assistant

Vi Blanchard has over twenty-five years of experience in administrative assistance, bookkeeping and owning a small business. Blanchard started her professional career after graduating from Fredrico’s Cosmetology School in Visalia, CA when she started her own hair-styling business. After deciding to try something new, Blanchard went on to work as an HVAC dispatcher for several residential companies where she was in charge of dispatching technicians from the Mexican boarder to the Oregon boarder, and to Singapore and Venice, Italy.

Along with her cosmetology credential, Blanchard has certificates in computer terminology and Excel from Modest Junior College and Sierra Junior College. After taking time off to care for her grandchildren, she worked as a Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant at a temporary agency and a remodeling company.

Blanchard has been with Kabateck Strategies since 2016 as the Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant.
